Use where ChloraPrep is contraindicated.
- Open plastic bag and remove wrapped tray.
- Unfold overwrap to form sterile field.
- Don sterile gloves provided.
- Position two underdrapes where desired.
- Open bottle of Exidine® and pour solution into basin.
- Apply Exidine® liberally to surgical site and swab for at least 2 minutes. Dry with a sterile towel. Repeat procedure for an additional 2 minutes and dry with a sterile towel.
The Exidine® 4% CHG preoperative skin prep tray provides persistent and broad-spectrum kill. This tray is also ideal for iodine-sensitive patients. Simply scrub the solution onto the site in a circular motion, beginning from the incision site. Blot the excess and repeat. No paint step is required.
Note: CHG should not be used on eyes, ears or mucous membranes.
